HAROLD F. MCKENZIE

PASTOR

Senior Pastor Harold F. McKenzie was born on May 31, 1951 in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He is a graduate of Lock Haven University, earning his bachelor's degree in Health & Physical Education. He went on to teach in the Keystone Central School District for 14 years. His integrity and zeal for God is a manifestation of how he was raised by his mother. At a young age, he had the passion for doing the work of the Lord. Answering the call to ministry, Pastor McKenzie sat under the tutelage of David Minor of Coudersport and Gerald Loyd of State College.

Walking the path that God led him down, Pastor McKenzie was ordained in April 1978 and in 1983 was installed as Senior Pastor of Unity Christian Ministries in Williamsport and traveling to State College to serve as an Assistant Pastor of Unity Church of Jesus Christ for 11 years. In 1990, Pastor McKenzie became senior pastor. In 1996 and 1999 two major milestones were reached in his ministry when the church mortgage was paid in full and burned with great jubilation. The next major milestone was in 2001 when he became a full-time pastor.

Ministry to Penn State students is important to Pastor McKenzie, and his church ministers to students through its campus ministry as well as to faculty and staff at its morning services. He also is a strong advocate of unity in the Body of Christ.  Unity Church is currently working together with several other congregations in State College to serve and reach the community for Christ while modeling Psalm 133, “Behold how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell together in unity…”

Pastor McKenzie is married to the former Sherren Stubbs of Jackson, Mississippi. They have been blessed with three children, Ephraim, Jason and Joi. Sherren and the children have aligned their personal visions with Pastor McKenzie to partner with him in carrying out the desire of his heart in doing the work of the Lord.
