EPHRAIM MCKENZIE

LEAD PASTOR

Ephraim Mckenzie is passionate about the church, equipping people, and facilitating authentic experiences with God. A native of State College Pennsylvania, his roots in ministry began at 4 or 5 years old in music and worship. In his teen years he served as a junior deacon, and at age 19 he preached his first message.

Ephraim attended Lock Haven University, and continued his coursework at Northern Virginia Bible College, now Virginia Christian College.

After joining Grace Church in Dumfries, VA, Ephraim began leading the worship department, and working administratively for the church in 2008. He was ordained a minister by Bishop Derek Grier in 2014. In addition to worship, he played key roles in administration and advancement, in a variety of positions including Chief Creative Director and Director of Media & Communications.

In late 2020, Ephraim and his family moved back to State College. After serving for 4 years as Executive Pastor, on May 3, 2025 he became the Lead Pastor of UCJC. Ephraim and Shani have been married since June 12, 2004. One of their greatest joys is the vibrant day-to-day life with their children, Carisse, Sariah, and Judah.
