WITH HONOR

Discovering The Power & Blessing of Honoring Our Leaders

Proverbs, the book of wisdom, teaches us not to withhold good from those to whom it is due, when it is in our power to do so. Romans reminds us to give respect and honor to whom they are due.

In its truest form, honor is an internal posture manifested in external expressions of love.

With this understanding, it is with joy and anticipation that we take advantage of the opportunity to celebrate our history, express our love and give honor to the shepherds God has so graciously given us; who have selflessly served our church and community for decades.

God’s Word is clear that we are to love and honor our leaders in tangible ways. In passages such as Thessalonians 5:12-13, and Hebrews 13:17 we are instructed to do our part, get along with one another, obey, submit and do what we can to make their work a joy, not a burden. Scripture even goes as far as to say, “overwhelm them with appreciation and love” in response to the weight of their service and responsibility.

Though our senior leaders, Harold and Sherren McKenzie, do not seek it and often vehemently avoid it, such moments of honor are not only biblical, but also position us all for blessing individually and collectively. God is not mocked, we will reap what we sow (Galatians 6:7). So, as we sow our love, honor, respect and treasure, we will reap - not only in those things, but from the strength and vitality of those we sow into. And who is more deserving than our Pastors - if you know, you know.

So, begin to pray and ask the Father how He wants you to show your love, and as details emerge and the opportunity arises, we will all be joyfully positioned to shower our leaders - WITH HONOR.
